I haven't written in a while so I figured I'd update a few things.

The LARP Portal project continues at a pretty hectic pace.  Monique and I have been meeting with at least one person or group of people per week to hammer down requirements for the project.  Then we work on getting more changes to all the plans and charts every night and a lot of time on the weekends.  I've been working with a couple of developers on our approach to handling the various aspects of it and we've actually begun develpment in earnest, though to be fair I've had a lot of the supporting SQL structures in place for a while, though they continue to develop with our requirements planning.  It's been exciting and exhausting at the same time.  If nothing else, it's certainly been the learning experience I was hoping for.

Last week was the lead-in to my NPC day at Cottington Woods.  I was asked on Wednesday to do a mod for Michelle and John and I foolishly said 'yes' forgetting that Wednesday was one of our discussion nights for the Portal, Thursday night was dinner out with a couple of friends and Friday night we were taking Elijah to see a production of 'The Wizard of Oz'.  There was no time in there at all to get anything done.  I had come up with some ideas on my various drives to and from work and up to CW, but I was nowhere near ready to run come Saturday.

Saturday morning I had a tough time getting going; just couldn't seem to clear the fog from my brain.  I got up to site around 8:45 and ran into Alysha looking for a spot to run a mod and ended up helping her set it up since monster camp was still mostly dead.  Since my stint as Talsyn wasn't until 4:00 I spent the day hitting things, first as a kangaroo, complete with full body suit, tail, boot covers, gloves and head piece, then as wolves and finally leading the four giant ant encounters.

I started really feeling 'off' just before the ant encounter.  I was reading the write-up to prep the other NPCs when I started getting the vision aura that is the usual precursor to a migraine.  I foolishly decided to tough it out and get through the encounter.  After we were done anting, I came in and crashed on one of the couches for about an hour, well into the time I should have been getting ready to go out as my bard role, but I just couldn't seem to get any energy worked up.  Yes, I had been eating and drinking all day, so it wasn't that.

I went with John into a quiet area to discuss the upcoming role and he was pulled away several times.  On one of the times I just passed out with my notes on my lap.  I woke up about half an hour later with a stiff neck and feeling really lousy.  I never got the debilitating headache that comes with a migraine but I was feeling really out of it and totally drained.   I was almost dumb enough to go out for my role, but when I reached down to pick up my instrument case and got dizzy I decided it was time to stop being dumb.  I semi-wisely decided that instead of staying there and getting worse that I was going to head home while I still could.  Not being sure if I was coming down with something and it potentially being the start of something bad, I did *not* want to be stuck at a LARP site.

I stopped a couple of times on the way home to stretch and get some fresh air.  It was a rough ride and toward the end I wasn't sure I was going to make it.  I got home around 8:30 and crashed.  I vaguely remember Monique coming home from dinner out with some friends and trying to talk to me.

I slept straight through for over 11 hours.  Sunday was not a great day.  I was not sick, but I was definitely post-migraine.  I've had enough to know what they feel like and this one felt like a whopper.  My brain was fuzzy.  I was having trouble thinking all day.  My head hurt every time I coughed or bent over.  I'm mostly back to my normal self today, but that was not a pleasant experience.

I did however enjoy the time spent with a whole bunch of really cool people at CW Saturday morning.  You all know who you are.  To those of you who were PCing that I didn't get to interact with as planned Saturday night, I'm sorry.

Oh yeah, and to make yesterday even more unpleasant, Rob announced that the Mirror, Mirror weekend was moving to Mother's Day weekend because of a camp scheduling snafu.  This is not only bad because it conflicts with Occam's Razor and I'm sure that will be problematic for some players, but it is also one of the few weekends of the year that I will not LARP because that day is sacred to Monique.  My wife however is awesome and has volunteered to move Mother's Day weekend to the weekend MM was going to be, so that made the day a little less bad.

Anyway, on with the work week.  Happy Monday everyone.
