Weekend report
Friday night we watched out grandchild Elijah. We also watched Christmas specials, like Rudolph the Reindeer and the Island of Misfit Toys and How the Grinch Stole Christmas and one more that's escaping me at the moment. Poor Elijah was in a pretty rotten mood which is very unusual for him and we just couldn't seem to calm him.
Saturday, my flute choir played at the quarterly meeting of the CT Audio Society. One of our prior members used to belong to this group and had been trying for years to get us to play for them. They finally approached us after this member moved away.
I had a quartet play as background music while people were arriving and eating lunch. After that, while they were having their meeting, we ate from the leftovers. And omg were there a lot of leftovers, lasagna, chili, a couple feet of two four foot long subs and chips and desserts. While they were having their formal meeting, the rest of my group showed up and we warmed up and tuned up and then after the meeting, we played for them again as the full flute choir, repeating the program we had done at the bookstore a couple weeks ago.
This time the performance went much more smoothly. We were primarily background music, but we had a small dedicated audience that sat and listened while everyone else was in the kitchen talking.
After picking up Monique at work (yeah, I dropped her off there on my way to the flute choir job) we went out to see the movie The Blind Side. I had heard nothing about this movie. It was excellent. It's a true story. It was very touching. The acting was very good. I recommend it.
After coming home and having dinner we decided to be couch potatoes and sat down in front of the TV. White Christmas was on, so we decided to watch it. I forgot how good that movie is.
I should have been at the annual Fantasy of Lights to raise money for Easter Seals. For those of you who have been reading me regularly, this is the event where I go out with other employees of my company and we greet people at the gate and take the money and give directions and fun stuff like that. I always dress up as a reindeer and have a lot of fun. But I knew that with the ankle problems I've been having that standing on my feet for an additional five hours was going to be a really bad idea, so I skipped it. This is the first time I've missed it since I've been working at Marlin. In a way it's just as well because the weather was awful. It would have been a really grueling experience.
Today was a fairly lazy day. I finally finished my NERO PEL from the October event. We sat in the family room most of the day with a nice fire going. We watched the pain that was the Patriots / Dolphins game. I'm assuming the rest of the evening will also be pretty low key, catching up on some 7V work.
