Weekend... mostly about the Madrigal RP day
And so to work. Happy Monday everyone!
And so to work. Happy Monday everyone!
I live in SW Connecticut, an area with a heavy NY bent when it comes to sports. Obviously, that makes me as a Patriots fan the center of much Patriots vs Giants (or Jets if they're winning) debate. I was trying to figure out how I was possibly going to avoid the pain of Giants' fans gloating today. Now don't get me wrong. I'm disappointed the Patriots didn't win, but I'm hardly crushed or devastated. I didn't come to work crying or angry or upset today. I just don't want to deal with gloaters who think to get me to feeling that way. So I have come up with a strategy that worked without fail thus far.
Every time I've run into a Giants' fan this morning (every one with a huge grin of glee on their face), before they can open their mouths, I've congratulated them sincerely for their team's victory in last night's game. It's really cool because the grin falls off their face and this look of confusion comes over them. I have struck a pre-emptive blow and it completely deflates the gloating tirade they were about to launch into.
It's stopped a half dozen differernt people in their tracks this morning. I'm yet to run into a single one who proceeds to tell me how great their team is and how they beat the *almost* perfect Pats, etc. I'm ready for that kind of person, but if they're willing to be gracious, I'm willing to let them savor their victory.
