Really bad scare

I woke up last night around midnight with a bad pain in my inner thigh, just below the groin.  I figured it was akin to a charlie horse and so got out of bed to try stretching it.  I fell to the floor in some of the worst pain I can ever remember.  It was so bad I couldn't move.  I tried several times to change position and the pain only got worse.  Staying totally still made the pain almost tolerable.  This went on for about 10 minutes.

Monique tried to get me to move, but there was just no way.  She ended up calling for an ambulance, I'd guess about 5 minutes into this.  Within a couple minutes of her calling for an ambulance, of course the pain started to subside and I was able to get up off the floor and sit on the bed.

During this time, a policeman arrived first.  In an almost comical affair, the poor guy injured his knee getting out of his car.  By the time the ambulance arrived he was in worse shape than I was.  I guess he stepped just wrong getting out of the car and twisted it.  The ambulance arrived and after we talked to the EMT for a few minutes we signed a waiver to have them leave without taking me to the hospital.  We decided that I was ok enough for Monique to take me down and have it checked out.

We got about 2/3 of the way to the hospital when we decided that we'd just wait and see what happened.  We were both so tired neither of us wanted to spend a couple hours in a waiting room.  At that point, I could still feel a little tightness in the muscles, but no pain.  Today, everything seems fine.  I'm thinking it was just a muscular issue, maybe caused by twisting something wrong or something at Madrigal.  I don't know.  It's gone, so I'm not going to worry about it unless it acts up again.

Happy Mother's Day to all you mothers out there.

Glad you're feeling better! Man, something about this madrigal session, eh? Take it easy for a while.

Um.

I hope you can hear me all the way over there from my place, yelling at you to at least call your primary care doc on Monday and ask about it.

I second that one, call your doc. Still, glad you're feeling better.

Glad you're doing alright. Maybe you need some ice or heat compression on the area? Man what is going on with so many hospital visits among various people!

Be well.

Perhaps a particularly nasty cramp in a major muscle group? Those things can hurt monstrously - and then pretty much go away in a few minutes.

Woah. That's crazy and scary. I hope you're still doing alright.

Yikes! I hope it was a one time muscle spasm and nothing serious. Call your doctor tomorrow!

Glad you weren't on site....take care of yourself, though.

Actually, on site might have been better. There's a paramedic on our team who tents right next to the cabin. I wouldn't even have had to wait for an ambulance.

Not only that, but Monique couldn't do anything for me because she is not physically capable of helping me in a situation like that. On site there are many people much mor able to help.

However, all is well so far. I'll call a doctor today.

Take it easy for a bit. That's horrible.

eat some banannas, severe mucle cramps can be caused by low potassium, since its a neuro-muscular transmitter. that being said, also go to the doctor, don't risk anything like that, bad cramps/pain like that can simply be poor circulation all the way to a sign of prediabetic issues. all in all, I need my bodyguard hale and healthy =)

Scary!!

Sounds like maybe it was just one of the world's worst muscle cramps. Maybe you were dehydrated, and like you said, strained this somehow at the event. Scare-ry! I'm sorry you guys went through that, and I hope it was the end of it!
