I learned a lesson Thursday night; Don't go to see a play when you're exhausted, you're wasting your money.

Monique and I bought season tickets to the Long Wharf Theatre this year.  This entitled us to four shows.  We forgot about the first one.  I had a migraine on the way home the night of the second one.  The third one, The Old Man and the Sea, an adaptation of the Hemingway story, was Thursday night.  We debated not going because we were both so tired.  Economy beat out common sense and we decided that since we'd paid for the tickets, we were going.

The show itself was well done.  I was deathly afraid it was going to be as boring as the original.  They worked two other characters beside the old man into the production.  The actor who played the guitar was quite gifted both on the guitar and vocally, though singing the songs in English instead of Spanish might have been nice.  The actor who played both narrarator and the little boy was very good.  The actor who played the old man was excellent.  The set and lighting were really good.  It was actually quite entertaining, but in the end, not exciting enough to watch when you're ready to fall asleep.  This would have been a great matinee play.

About 5 minutes before intermission, Monique fell asleep.  I spent the last 5 minutes trying not to do the same thing.  When intermission arrived, we both decided it was time to leave.  Good thing.  I got home after the 30 minute drive and crashed immediately.

It's official, we're moving the go live on this project at work out to June 1.  Ok, it will be official when it gets announced officially, but for those of us at the upper management level, it's official and enough people know it and have leaked it, that's it's unofficially official too.  This is good because there was really no way in hell we were ready.  Unfortunately, I have already given up on my annual two week vacation that Monique left for today.

We go to Florida just about every year at this time for two weeks.   We have time share at Cocoa Beach and have been going there for years.  This year, because of the project, I had to pass on it.  Monique has made other plans for company.  A mutual friend of ours is joining her for about a week and a half of it.  Her sister is joining her for a few days in the middle.  I brought her to the airport this afternoon.  So I will be free for the next two weeks to work too much.  *sigh*

In the meantime, on the way home today, I stopped at JoAnn's Fabric and found some new cloth for spell packets.  It's kind of amusing the looks a guy gets going into a fabric store and browsing.  Then I went and spent a whole bunch of time shopping at the Dollar Tree next door.  The cashier asked me if I found everything I was looking for.  I love this question.  Who goes into a dollar store actually looking for anything?  Everything I found I *wasn't* looking for.

So now I'm working on catching up on a whole bunch of stuff.  Maybe I'll actually get some of it done.

One last thought.  Thank God the weather wasn't like this last weekend.  I think I'd die running around in the sun in a black, furry dog suit this weekend.
