Low key, laid back, restful.

Friday night, we went out to dinner because Monique had had a really rough day at work.  She didn't want to cook and I didn't want to subject her to my cooking.  After she came home and addressed the work issues that were weighing heavily on her mind and I just relaxed in front of my PC, if you want to call working on balancing the checkbook and extending the budget relaxing.

Saturday, my actual birthday, I did all this stuff: http://kumir-k9.livejournal.com/125890.html  I would assume if you've been keeping up all along you don't need to check that out, unless you really want to see the wonderful artwork again from [livejournal.com profile] silverhare  and [livejournal.com profile] gianajho .

My older son came over with his girlfriend and my younger grandchild.  They brought me a lovely laptop portadesk for my laptop.  I expect to get a fair amount of use out of that.

My brother and his girlfriend and my sister-in-law (well, one of them) from VA came over and we all went out to dinner at the Rustic Oak.  I love this restaurant.  They have the world's best raisin bread and I don't even really like raisin bread all that much.  Dinner was lovely and we stayed up until about midnight talking.   We had planned on playing games, but it fell by the wayside to conversation, coffee and chocolate (sort of) cake.  While enjoying the conversation we listened to my present from the bro, a CD of Renaissance love songs, madrigals for all intents and purposes.  Very appropriate and quite lovely.

Sunday morning we all got up and had a delicious brunch.  Monique made us a breakfast fit for a king and we again enjoyed more conversation before the brother and g/f had to leave to go visit with her family.  Monique, her sister and I went about halfway to where the CT sister lives to have lunch with their parents and her sister and husband.  It's really beginning to sound like the weekend centered around food.  Food really just broke up the conversations we had.

Last night we watched "The American President", Monique's favorite movie.  It never gets old.  It's just a really good feel good movie all around.

Today, everyone was gone and we had the house to ourselves again.  Monique worked on an email to her boss that took her hours to get just right and she's been working on work projects since.  I on the other hand have played games on Facebook, written my Madrigal PEL, written several IG letters for Madrigal, worked on lyrics for a song and just generally relaxed.

All in all, very nice.
