Car whoas... or woes...

Well, whatever the case, the van has stopped going.
Eight days ago, I had what appeared to be a very minor accident. It was that day we had the really bad rain and when the trafffic came to a screeching halt, I braked but the van slid into the car in front of me. The car in front of me had a couple of scratches and my car had a couple of scratches. There was so little "damage" that we both agreed it was nothing. I still gave him all of my insurance info, but I figured that the damage between the two cars wouldn't meet my deductible so I didn't even report it and for the last 8 days my car has been running like normal.
Thursday of this week it started telling me it wanted its regular maintenance / oil change. It's one of the things I love about this car. It tells me when it wants something. I bring it to my dealership. They do it. I give them a minimal amount of money and me, the dealership and the car are all happy.
So today I bring it in to the dealership for said oil change. On the way, about 2 miles from the shop, my engine light comes on as well as an orange exclamation point inside a triangle and another orange light that says VSA. As I get off the exit ramp the engine starts smoking. This can't be good.
I go into the dealer and explain what's happened to date and the guy comes out and looks under the hood. There's a shit ton of hidden damage to the heating and cooling systems and there's coolant all over the inside of my engine. That's what was causing the smoke. In addition there's some incidental damage to the frame and headlight casings. His eyeball guestimate without taking anything apart is "a couple thousand dollars". *choke*
By the way, I shouldn't drive this again until it's fixed. So they go to move it to a back area out of the normal maintenance area, it now it won't start. All I can think of is something must have been straining all week and finally snapped this morning because there's been no signs of anything wrong. So I go through contacting my insurance and arranging a rental. I got that all squared away and have all the appropriate parties notified. I now have a Chevy Aveo (what a little piece of crap) and I'm home. I can't believe the timing on all that. Boy was I lucky. I should go play the lottery tonight with that kind of luck.
