In our case, the Silver Village Flute Choir consists of 10 flutes, flutes being piccolos, C flutes, alto flutes and a bass flute. Our literature ranges from arrangements of pieces for other medium through pieces written specifically for the medium. Original works for flute choir don't exist prior to about 1980 because that's about when flute choirs started appearing.
Flute choir is sort of a fuzzy term and different people will call them flute groups, flute ensembles, flute choirs and flute orchestras. Flute orchestra doesn't really come out unless the group also has contra-alto flutes, contrabass flutes or double contrabass flutes.
My group is currently working on an arrangement of a medley of Sound of Music songs, an original piece called Masques, an original piece in 5 movements called Greek Tableaux, an arrangement of Scheherezade by Rimsky-Korsakov, an arrangement of the Jig from St. Paul's Suite by Holst, an original in 5 movements called Flutes and Vegetables and a few others.
If you'd like to hear some fine original flute choir music, including the Greek Tableaux above, check out http://www.flute.net/pubs/choir.htm and play the mp3 files. I highly reccomend Furry Leaves, Greek Tableaux, Winter Ride and Woodbridge Suite.
You can hear Masques here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ekytBczCg9I). It's one of my favorite pieces written specifically for flute choir.
If you'd like to check out some of the arrangements I personally have done for the instrumentation there's a recording of my version of Scarborough Fair here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dUsGREJ83YU).
