Friday night was really no different from every other night last week.  I got home from work late and crashed.

Saturday we slept in until 7:30 and then got to work doing the prep for our guests.  Chris, Monique and I split up the list of tasks and got to work cleaning, setting up and prepping food.

Our guests consisted of NERO players whose characters are members of the  Ravenholt Healers' Guild and Mages' Guild and the gypsies that stay in the guild building.  All told we were 15 people.  We spent a bit of time chatting out of game and then moved to getting in costume and going in-game.  This is our third annual mid-Winter gather at my house.  We usually do a guild meeting where we catch each other up on all the plots that we've all been working on, as this tends to fall by the wayside during events.  It's kind of nice to start off the year all knowing what should be known about everything.  Then we have an IG feast, prepared by the hostess of the inn (Monique).  As is typical, this year there was again way too much delicious food.

The two guildmistresses decided to throw in an extra feature this year.  We did an IG gift exchange in the style of a Secret Santa swap.  Each of us was randomly assigned another member to give a gift.  Omi got Kumir's name and she made this really cool over the shoulder pouch with some hand sticthing.  There are two Celtic knots on either side of an RH going across in one color with a HG going down in another color.  The two H's are overlapping but slightly offset.  It stand for Ravenholt Healers' Guild, in case you're wondering.  Thre reason this is so cool is that Kumir's costume does not allow for a belt and therefore any kind of pouches.  It also has very limited pocket space.  This is an awesome IG gift.  I was most pleased.

I actually participated in the giving of two gifts, though one of them indirectly.  Randy's gypsy, Zybediah, is capable of speaking to spirits.  He was given Omi's name.  As his gift, Zybediah contacted the spirit of Jericho (Omi's dead lover) and asked for a message to deliver to Omi.  Of course, Randy turned to me to fill out the present, as I played Jericho.  I wrote her a fairly brief note relative to Jericho's last gift to her.

The second gift was Kumir's gift to his former master, Guildmistress Lilaiethyn (Lilli to everyone else).  I have these really cool journals that are made with a really nice earthy looking cover with leave patterns and even have a small branch built into the spine.  It's very period looking.  I titled the inside cover "Journal of Memories, Musings and Meditations and hand drew a lily underneath.  I was quite pleased with the drawing as I have no drawing skills and it came out looking really good (for me).  Then Kumir wrote the first memory entry.  It contained all the things Kumir remembered since coming to Ravenholt as they pertained to him and Lilaiethyn, good and bad, ending with Kumir's sentiments towards her.  While she read it, which she did aloud to the room, I played a piece called "The Lily" on the flute as background.  It was all very touching and ended in a beautiful IG exchange between me and her.

We spent a good 7 hours of in-game time and I think fun was had by all.  I know I had a lot of fun.

Sunday morning Moique did her usual job of outdoing herself with a big breakfast leaving all stuffed, and on her birthday no less.  Yes, Monique agreed to a houseful of guests on her birthday weekend and worked like a slave prepping for my friends.  Is it any wonder I love this woman so?

Everyone left around noon (those who had slept over) with lots of leftover food.  Monique went out to get her nails done and I tackled laundry and kitchen cleanup.  I even had enough time before she got back to put my in-game music book back in order and put all sorts of new pieces in it.  I tried out the new character makeup job for Madrigal and with Chris' help got pictures.  I sent these off to Rob for his approval since there are no others of my kind, so I wanted to make sure I got it right before the revel in a couple weeks.

Then we watched the two games.  Both our teams lost.  I'm not going there.

This morning I had a dentis appointment so I'm hear late, but I wanted to get this all down before I forget any of it.

So this past weekend I finally decided to get my act together in regards to the makeup job for my new character for Madrigal.  I figured maybe I should try to put my face on before I actually had to take it in-game and take pictures while I was at it so I could get staff approval on it, since the description in the rule book struck me as a little vague.

From the rulebook:  Your skin is veined with the white and gray of clouds and mist, tinged with pale blue, with clear or silver highlights of crystal.  Some Eurvein have white hair or light gray hair.  The crystal in your skin is clear or silver; you may affix a unique pattern of clear crystals to your face or use silver glitter over your colored veins.

GM clarification:  You can be light blue with white veins and clear/silver crystal, or white with light blue veins and clear/silver crystal.  You can substitute crystals for "veins" of silver glitter as well.  Basically do your makeup to look like an Air elemental with crystal bits.

So here's what I've got.  There are two shots.  The one without the flute is the final product.  The one with the flute is missing one swirl that I added after that shot, but it nicely shows the effect of the airy swirls coming out the end of the flute.  Both shots nicely show the sparkle of mist in the swirls of air.  At least, I think they do.  Oh yeah, all exposed flesh will be done for game.  This is for the sake of getting the makeup right.

I'm open to feedback.
