Need help with web site hosting

The guy who runs our editorial department comes to me this morning and explains to me that his 17 year old son has a group web site that has had to move said site off the server it's hosted on because they will no longer allow PHP.  The kid is working with two people trying to move it, one in TX and one in New Zealand and to make a long story short, it's not working out so well.  The kid is apparently having some issues with the logins.  

The question posed to me is, "What should his kid do?".  

PHP?  I don't know anything about PHP.  I can't even spell it.  I told him I'd feel out my contacts.  So my questions to you web savvy folks out there is what would you advise?  Do you know any good resources for him?  Know any PHP consultants?  Know any better hosting sites that can help him out?
