Last weekend
Mar. 28th, 2008 07:43 amIt occurs to me that in all this jury stuff, I missed posting about last weekend. As they say, better late than never.
I had Friday off from both jury duty and from Marlin, so I went to United Health Care and worked there all day instead. You know me, never one to miss an opportunity to sneak in 9 hours of work. I got a lot done on the database project that I'm doing for them though and that felt really good. It was nice to be able to sit for a long stretch and just work on something I enjoy without having to play manager. I miss that kind of work, a lot.
Saturday, Monique and I went back to UHC and got in a few more hours of work. Then we headed off to NH for Randy's bardic. This was a lot more laid back a crowd than most. That's ok. Monique prefers the smaller ones. This was a very special bardic though. Saturday morning, Monique asked me if I'd like to do something together. I couldn't believe she was volunteering to perform. i dug out her guitar, which she hadn't played in years and we discussed all sorts of options. We settled on "Follow Me", an old John Denver song that was one of our wedding songs. We practiced for a while and worked it out pretty well, though a step or two lower might have been nice. It went very well Saturday night, in my opinion. I hope to be able to convince her to do more at future bardics.
I didn't pull out the flute at all. I was a little disappointed at that, but performing with Monique sort of made up for it. I'll probably get I'm sure I'll get to play at the Madrigal event in two weeks. (Madrigal, yay! LARP season is almost upon us!)
Sunday, we went to my mom's for Easter breakfast and then sat around talking with Randy, Bren and both parents (Randy and Bren brought my dad). It was a relatively low key Easter celebration, but quite pleasant.
That's about it. I wanted to make sure I got it in here in case I ever needed to "refresh my recollection" (a popular attorney phrase). The jury duty made me realize just how bad human memory can be.
