Friday night, Monique took me out for dinner and a movie.  We went to see "Iron Man".  I've been asking to go since it came out while we were on vacation in FL.  She didn't want to go see another one of those stupid comic book super hero movies.  I tried to convince her then of all the reasons this one would be different and why I thought she might actually like this one.  She finally agreed that she would take me for my birthday, even though she didn't want to.  Her opinion after the movie was that it was the best movie she had seen in a long time.  I can't say anything that anyone else hasn't said about it.  Great movie.  Loved the part after the credits.

Saturday we spent most of the day putting the house back in order.  We had new carpets put in five of the rooms and between long work days and last weekend being a Madrigal event (still must finish PEL), we just didn't have everything put back.  Since we were having guests stay over for Amy's baby shower, Monique had this panic mode thing and we had to make sure everything was perfect again.

The guests were Amy's mom, stepdad and sister.  Since this was the first time we were meeting them, Monique was extra panicky.  She wanted the first impression to be nothing short of perfect, so we spent almost day on this project.  On the bright side, the house looks really good again.  It's one of those things where you dread starting it, you hate doing it, but you feel really accomplished afterward.

Amy was a bit stressed about the whole weekend.  To make a long story short, she and her mom are not best of buddies.  Hey Amy, how's that for politically correct?  ;-)  It started out with them calling right before they got there to tell Amy they changed their mind and were going to take a hotel instead of staying in our guest rooms.  Now personally, I didn't really care whether they stayed or not.  If they didn't, it was less stress for Monique (and therefore, less stress for me).  As the evening wore on and we talked with them, they got obviously more comfortable with us and decided to stay after all.  I guess Monique and I are just that charming.  ;-)

Sunday saw the coming of the baby shower.  We had an excellent turnout and Amy and Chris got an amazing amount of stuff.  The day went very well; couldn't have expected better.

Monday was a much more quiet day dediated to catching up on things I'd ignored for 2 months, like balancing the checkbook, adjusting the budget and paying bills.  I had lots of other plans, but that took a lot longer than I anticipated.

Overall, the weekend was pretty good.  Today on the other hand sucks worse than your average Monday and it's not even Moday.  This better not be a sign of the week to come.
