Made it and thanks
Jan. 17th, 2009 08:33 amTo all who offered me advice or well wishes yesterday, thank a lot.
I ended up leaving work about 1:30 and headed to Monique's sister's house in VA. It took me about 6 1/2 hours total. I just put the iPod on the car stereo. I listend to a couple of short Audiobooks that were actually short plays between Spock and Q from Star Trek. They were pretty funny and entertaining. After that I sang to Broadway tunes most of the rest of the way which was a really good way to stay awake.
I talked to Monique a couple times on the way down. She got the flowers and was quite pleased, though she said several times that I didn't have to do that. Yeah, I already knew that *before* I did it. Having to do it and *HAVING* to do it are two totally different things. I assure you, I *HAD* to do it. :-) By the time we went to bed, which wasn't long after I got there, all was good again.
This morning we got up about 5:00 to take her sister and my cousin to the airport. Monique has gone back to bed and I now sit in the den of burkefireguy's place waiting for the gang to arise. I figure I can catch up on a little database work while I'm waiting.
On an amusing note, when I tapped gently on the door here, Nate answered the door and said, "Good morning Zephyr", not "Good morninrg Rick". I'm wearing blue, but I'm not blue in any other way this morning, so it made me smile.
