Since we company gives us Good Friday off we decided to head to VA this weekend. We had plans with family and friends down there. Then Thursday afternoon we got word that my sister-in-law who lives in Fairfax was going into surgery unexpectedly Friday morning. She was going to have this surgery in a couple of weeks, but there was an opening in the schedule so she took it. That pretty much put an end to our friend plans as people needed to be with her full-time for a couple of days.
My sister-in-law is one of those go-getter types that will push herself too far too fast. So we took shifts making sure she got up and took a walk every hour but also that she didn't over-do it or skip her meds that she needed to be on for the first day. We also made sure she drank enough of the things she was supposed to and none of the stuff she should't for the first 24 hours.
It wasn't a chore, certainly not unpleasant, but it meant any plans of being out and about were out of the question. Between spending time with her (we played games and talked for the most part) and family Easter, there was no time in the schedule for visiting friends. :-( Oh well, next time.
Hiding eggs for the kids and watching them find them was fun, though man, kids nowadays are really bad at finding the well-hidden eggs. We were still finding them an hour after the kids gave up, even with us egging them on.
Back to another fine work week. Happy Monday and a Happy April Fools Day.
