kumir_k9: (haunted house)

We were supposed to be going up to NH this coming weekend for tax-free shopping / Easter / Bardic / Haunted House kick-off meeeting / Haunted House site hunting, but due to changes in plans went up this past weekeend instead.  Chris and Elijah came with us and we met up with both Monique's mom and my family for an early Easter.  We also took the opportunity with Randy and Tracy to talk about various haunted house issues.  Only 220 days to go; the clock is ticking.

The bulk of our time was spent driving around Nashua and Hudson looking at properties with signs indicating they're available for lease.  It's our hope that we can find someone who's willing to donate a site for a month for the charitable write-off.  If that doesn't work out, maybe we can find someone who's willing to let us have a site for a vastly reduced cost for a month, though our budget is very small.  BTW, if anyone in the Nashua / Hudson area knows of any such places, please let us know.  You'll save us a lot of time trying to make those connections.

We've settled on a name for this year's haunted house, Blind Terror.  Blind Terror in and of itself is a pretty good name for a haunted house, but since we're doing it this year to raise money for charities for the blind it has a nice double meaning to it.  Randy approved, so I think we're in good shape.

Monique and I want to put up a web site to point people to to tell them who we are and what we do, since this 'haunted house for charity' thing is looking like it may become a habit.  It will legitimize us a bit and allow us a permanent place to put up our history and unique sub-sites for each yea's project, since the year's project name can change from year to year.  For instance our YMCA project was named "You May Come out Alive" and this year for 2020 Vision Quest is "Blind Terror", so we don't want to tie our web site name down to something like that.  We want it to reflect our mission title, "We Invent Terrifying Charity Haunted Houses" (WITCHH).  This will allow us to have links like www.witchh.com/BlindTerror and www.witchh.com/YouMayComeoutAlive.

So right now we have locations in the works.  My sister-in-law Lise is out of work for medical reasons so she's going to make calls on all the places we've found.  Randy is following up on insurance issues.  I'm working on the web site.  Monique, Randy and I have been working pulling the volunteer list together and will soon be sending out follow-up emails on that.  Lots of good stuff in the works.  We might pull this off.

On an unrelated topic, freeing up next weekend from the NH trip means that we're free to make a trip down to VA next weekend.  Since I have Friday off (there's a reason it's called GOOD Friday) we're going to head to VA Thursday night after work and we'll be down there for a couple of days to spend Easter weekend with Monique's family.
