Our strategy for our kitty had been to bait him out with a toy that he couldn't drag around the house. We had this jingly stuffed monkey on an elastic cord with a loop meant for your hand..... we'd tie it to the door knob of another room right before we went to bed. He would pounce on it and romp, but the cord kept it tethered to the door. That way he'd play with the toy until he got tired, then eventually crawl into the bed to take a nap after all the excitement.
... of course night 1 was a lesson in learning: don't tie it to a door outside your bedroom unless you want to enjoy the soothing night time sounds of "WHAM JINGLE JINGLE WHAM WHAM JINGLE JINGLE WHAM WHAM" from him constantly slamming the bell covered toy in the door XD
That's going to be the experiment I try tonight. If they're anything like Sasha was, a closed door is something to be scratched on until such time as it opens. We shall see.
Similarly, we have tinfoil across the bottom 6" or so of our bedroom door to discourage scratching while we're sleeping. Kitties do not like the feel of tinfoil under their paws.

It took a bit of finagle to figure out where to put the tape, but it worked well.
