Lest anyone think I forgot about it, my dear brother celebrated his 0th wedding anniversary last week. That's right, on 10/10/10, he and Tracy got married.
So, leading up to this momentous occasion, Monique came up with me to work on Friday so that I wouldn't have to go back the better part of an hour to get her and then have to fight the Columbus Day, long weekend, leaf peeping traffic to go back north. She of course spent the day shopping in the area while I worked. Still, it allowed us to get on the road at a reasonable hour and she spent the weekend relaxing at a hotel up in Sturbridge while I went to Madrigal.
On Saturday night, after I got out of Madrigal at about 1:00 in the morning, I headed up to the hotel so we could leave there first thing Sunday morning. I had left my makeup and costume on because it was more convenient and time saving to just go to the hotel and deal with it there. I figured worse case I'd freak out the desk clerk. I got to the hotel and there were three police cars parked in front. One of the police officers got the door for me, since I was dragging my suitcase in one hand and carrying my makeup case in the other. There were five officers gathered around the door inside. I have no idea what was going on, but I sure got some interesting looks. As I walked away I heard one of them say, "He must be coming from a show". I suppose that's one way to put it. However, I was right; definitely much easier to change, scrub makeup and shower in the convenience of the hotel room.
Sunday, we drove up to Nashua and picked up my mom and went out to breakfast. After that we went and picked up my dad at the nursing home. The challenge to my dad was getting him up and back (hour and a half driving both ways) on the two tanks of oxygen and then finding a place to plug in his breathing machine everywhere else. Everything went very smoothly and both my parents were in good health and fine spirits for the whole day.
We got to the hotel and participated in the pictures on the beach. That was a lovely setting for pictures. It was pretty cool seeing some people like John and Jose that I haven't spent much time with in forever and they were both fantastic in all the help they gave me getting my dad's wheelchair over some of the hurdles.
The wedding itself took place on the Mount Washington on Lake Winnepesaukee. The setting was beautiful, but it was pretty packed, maybe a bit too much so and the sound system wasn't all that great. The ceremony looked beautiful, but I heard almost none of it from the back of the room. The food was really good and all things considered, it was a pretty good time.
After we got my mom and dad on their way with my son Chris, we headed to the hotel for a bonfire on the beach. There was lots of fine talk with lots of cool people. It was a really good ending to the wedding day. Congratulations Randy and Tracy!
