Why LARP?

One of my dear friends is low on LARP floon and letting all sorts of irrelevant crap get in the way of her having fun LARPing.  Thinking about all the things she has said has made me wonder why people LARP to begin with.  So gentle readers, I ask you, why do you LARP?  

What makes it fun for you?  What parts of it are irrelevant to you?  What would you make go away (from LARPing) if you could?  What things about it annoy you but not enough to make you stop?  What would be bad enough to make you want to stop?  What real life factors affect your LARPing?  If you've stopped LARPing, why?
