I had planned on getting a few things done last night; work on one of Monique's databases, put a little time into my Fiddler on the Roof medley, pay bills.  Instead, I changed a flat on Monique's car (a story in and of itself), weeded for an hour and then put in a round trip to North Haven (hour and a quarter round trip) to bring Chris to work because his car wouldn't start.

I decided that making dinner wasn't worth the trouble at 8:45 so I stopped at a drive-through and got a burger instead.  Ugh.  I should have just gone hungry.  The drive-thru line took 15 minutes (so much for 'fast' food) and it was even worse than usual.  My stomach is still yelling at me this morning.  Ick.

So if Monique is away in MD on business all week, why am I changing a flat tire on her car?   I'm glad you asked.  Oh wait, you didn't ask, I did.  Well, if you're glad I asked, keep reading, otherwise, move along and I'll ramble without you.

Monique's car is not in the best of shape, so she decided to convince her company to rent her a car to go to MD this week.  We figured it would be faster, more convenient and more economical than driving an hour and a quarter to Hartford, parking the car, dealing with her luggage, dealing with airport hassles and waits, dealing with luggage in MD, getting a rental car and then driving wherever.  Frederick MD is only 4 1/2 hours away.  We figured that due to her physical condition, it just made more sense to drive.

Sunday she went to leave to go pick up a car and as she prepared to pull out of the driveway, I noticed she had a flat tire.  Lovely.  So I drove her up to New Haven to pick up the rental car.  That was another one of those hour and a half wasted trips for me this week.  Now I have the problem of getting her a car for when she gets back on Sunday since I'll be off spending some quality time with some friends.  This means getting her tire changed last night so Chris can take her car to get a new tire today so I can bring the car to New Haven Wednesday so she'll have it when she gets back on Sunday.  This plan assumes several things.  It assumes Chris remembers to take the car and get a new tire.  It assumes I can get a ride back to Monroe Wednesday with my employee (who works from home on Thursdays which is why this won't happen on Thursday and I need my car on Friday.

Now aren't you glad I asked?  ;-)

Edited addition:
Remember that 4 1/2 hour MD ride I mentioned that was going to save time?  It took Monique about 9 hours.  Traffic crawled over most of CT, the Jersey Turnpike and whatever that highway is right after the JT.  Sometimes you just can't win.
