It's been an awesome holiday weekend thus far.   Monique is wrapping present right now, so I figured I'd get a head start on writing.

Friday night Monique and I came up to NH for the weekend.  We did a llttle book store shopping first thing upon reaching Nashua.  We needed to get two copies of Tedy Bruschi's book, "Never Give Up", for my dad to give as Christmas presents.  Barnes and Noble was both a madhouse and a disappointment in that they showed 6 books in stock but couldn't produce any of them.  We went down the street to the Borders, a much more pleasant, quiet and gratifying shopping experience.  Not only were there no crowds, but they had piles of the book we sought.  Then we headed to the hotel.  We're staying at the Radisson in south Nashua (used to be the Sheraton Tara).  It's kind of amusing that the Radisson is on Sheraton Tara Blvd.  We decided to catch a movie before going to sleep.  We settled on "Hairspray".

Saturday we went to Randy's where he was doing a very special IG dream mod for his lady.  One of the sequences involved Kumir, a real surprise for her.  Then while Randy finished that and they got ready for the day, Monique and I went and brought my dad all his presents to give out.  We had taken them home last weekend and wrapped them for him.  Since we're going to see him on Christmas and since we were on a tight time schedule, we didn't stay long.

For B's birthday and for my Christmas present, Randy took us out for lunch at Fire and Ice in Cambridge and then to see the Christmas Revels.

Fire and Ice is a very cool Mongolian grill.  You get to go to all the various food stations and pick exactly what you want to eat, from all sorts of vegetables to a wide selection of meats.  Then there's a bar with many different types of sauces.  You take the whole thing up to this central grill where they cook the whole thing in front of you.  It was delicious.

For the Revels, this year's theme was Baltic.  The costumes were colorful and detailed and just wonderful.  The dancing was amazing.  The quality of the music was fantastic, though some of the Baltic music is a bit... how to be politic... um, boring, but some of it was beautiful and the performers in general did a great job.

More to come later.  Monique has just finished wrapping presents and we're going to watch a movie.  Stay tuned.

I had no idea that Fire and Ice's setup had a technical name of "Mongolian grill". Neat. I always just thought of it as the awesome place where I fill a bowl with meat and they cook it for me. Twice.

Fire and Ice is a great place to eat. [livejournal.com profile] neo_blackwolf loves it. I expect I'll be hitting the one in Boston a few times in the future, since I work just around the corner from it. ;)

Have a Very Merry!!

...but yes, the non-English themed years I find much more tedious. I've told my family that I'm shattering tradition (we've been going for about 25 years, I think) and will pick and choose depending on the year's theme.

The costumes were, however, some of the best I've ever seen on stage there (and we were in the fourth row this year, which is not my preferred seating - I like the low first tier).
