Monique, Chris and I went up to NH for the weekend.  Chris got a new costume for his NERO character from us for Christmas and this weekend is when he actually got the present.

We went to Birka Saturday. Chris and I went pre-garbed.  Monique was hoping not to.  She's not so much into it.  Rules is rules though and we got her something simple at the racks provided for such.  We did much browsing and chatting with many wonderful people.  I did some harp browsing and chatting with some harpists, including my friend Gretchen who I apprently haven't seen in almost two years, based on the fact that she didn't recognize me at first without the beard.

We ended up getting most of what Chris wanted at Threads of Time.  Great folks, nice work, reasonable prices.  In addition, I got a beautiful pair of deerskin gloves there and placed an order for a Warwick coat (available for viewing here):

I got this to be extra fashionable for

[profile] keyla87's wedding later this year in which I'll be playing a part.  Well, ok, in all fairness that was a great excuse to get a new piece of Madrigal costuming, but you get the idea.  The coat was heartily approved of by the bride and all the friends with us.

We went to Randy's bardic Saturday night which was the most fun of them for me so far.  I decided to skip the poetry this time, just not in the mood, but the music portion was fantastic.  There were some great new performers this time around.  Andy and Rourkie (hmmm, must look up LJs) have voices that blend beautifully and they've been working together so much they just hit it off.  Their performances were both musical and humorous.   There were just so many wonderful performers, I can't give them all credit.  If you haven't been to one of these, you must come.  Randy has them about once a quarter, so stay tuned for future announcements.

Of course, the highlight for me is always performing with others and in this case it was no exception.

[personal profile] jjmarika and I performed 3 flute duets and  [personal profile] arianhwyvar and I did a piece for flute and voice.  The three of us retired to the basement for a while after and sight read a whole bunch of quartets on recorder and 2 flutes.  Yeah, I know, we were missing a part.  It was still a lot of fun.

There's one downside to the bardics.  There are so many cool people there, you only get to spend small amounts of time with any of them.  It's like going to a huge buffet with all the world's best dishes there, but you only have enough time to eat one plate full.  You only get a little bit of a few things and none of others.

Sunday, we moved my mom across town.  We were done about 2:00 and then headed home to CT.  We were home by 5:30.  Monique wanted to finish off season 2 of West Wing, so we spent the night relaxing in front of the TV.  Good thing we didn't do much else.  I was pretty sore in the backside from the moving.

All in all, a pretty good weekend.

Missing Birka was really annoying, but the Bardic made up for it. I am in love with everything from Threads Of Time, and your jacket is GORGEOUS!
