I headed down to VA this weekend to go to the NERO VALOR chapter.   A bunch of us headed down on Friday.  I took a lot of peoples' stuff in my van while

[profile] sans_peur took a bunch of the people in hers.  This was because I was staying down a couple days after, so people had to be the top priority for her van.   [personal profile] jjmarika drove down with me, so I wasn't all alone for the drive.  We had a most pleasant chat on the drive and that was as enjoyable as any part of the weekend.

We stopped in VA on the way down and had dinner with Cindy and Mike and Charlie and Claudea, 4 of the folks who come up from VA on a regular basis.  That was a marvelous time.  I spend absolutely no time with these folks OOG and it was really cool to spend down time getting to know the people.  They are as delightful in real life as IG.

We got to the camp with plenty of time, enough so in fact, that I had time to drive up back up to BMI for  [profile] silway and pick up [profile] thedeviantangel.  This was a lot of additional driving considering I'd been on the road so much of the day, but it was actually quite enjoyable seeing as it gave me a chance to get to know her.

The game itself was a lot of fun.  A great deal of it consisted of trying to pull together a musical performance of one guitar, one zither, one percussionist, one recorder, two flutes and about 7 vocalists in a performance of "A King Walks Through Time" which we ended up performing for King Mykel at the feast on Saturday night.  That's ok.  I live for that kind of stuff and it got me some interesting rewards, a component (a sheet of music written by Jericho, how cool is that?), a thanks from the king with a handshake from him, a piece of kingsilver, and a standing invitiation to the estate of High Lord Magistrate Buttons in Evandarr, a pretty fair haul for a slave.

The tournament was entertaining to watch.  I had some marvelous roleplay that continues some of the personal plot going on with Kumir that I still can't write about just yet.  The people down there are really friendly and it was pretty easy to get involved in things.   I had a great time and if the opportunity somehow arises again, I would definitely revisit this chapter.

After helping to clean up the tavern (cleaning tables, sweeping and mopping, which I heard later was inadequate), a whole bunch of us went to lunch and had the most wonderful time.  It was a great way to end the weekend.  Well, it didn't really end the weekend, but that's the end of the part relating to NERO.

I was really glad you came down-- it definitely wouldn't have been as fun without you there!

Thanks. I had a blast RPing. You definitely gave Kumir some food for thought. I just adore sitting for extended periods of time and just talking IG with people.

What is bakeneko?

Was nice getting to meet and RP with you (me being the fellow you sat next to during the feast).

I'm glad you clarified that. I assume you were the one on my left, the poor man who had to listen to all the virtues of slavery. ;-)

I was in fact the one to your right who discussed tournament stuff and temporal theory earlier in the day.

And again, thank you so very, very much for the ride down from BWI, even though I was late getting there. It made me so happy that I was able to be at the event after the uncertainty with the Boston weather, and I really appreciate your willingness to pick me up. Please let me know if I can help you out any time! :)

Mike and Charlie and Cindy and Claudea, huh?

Sounds like you had a little mini Euvein convention going there. All you needed was to have Hope come out to visit and you would have had a racial quorum. You could have held votes and everything.

You're welcome. If I didn't mean it, I wouldn't write it in a public forum. As of the writing, none of the four of you were on my friends list.

That dinner was a very high point of my weekend. It was a perfect end to a long ride. It was a wonderful way to share the Madrigal event. It put me in a great frame of mind for the VALOR weekend. I wish we could get together after all the Madrigal events, but I understand the desire to get the long ride going.

And just out of curiosity (because Zephyr gets his natural curiosity from Rick), what is tetsutora?

claudia and I tend to drive up thursday, and then back down later on sunday, ussually after a leisurely dinner anyway, so if you or anyone else want to get together after the events, i'm sure claudia and I will be up for it. I know the others leave pretty immediately because they work on monday, but i'm more of a slacker =)

Tetsutora is actually two words in japanese. Tetsu meaning Iron, and Tora meaning Tiger, so the direct translation is Iron Tiger. Im a big asian culture buff, and have been studying martial arts since i was about 8, os it tends to leak into the other aspects of my life =)
