Yeah, so 4:50 is not the time you want a phone call.  Nobody calls at 4:50  in the morning unless it's something really bad.  And if something really bad isn't happening and you call me at 4:50 in the morning, something really bad *is* going to happen.

It was Chris calling to tell us that he and Amy were at the hospital.  Her water broke around 1:00 this morning and she's in labor.  So in theory, I will have a second grandson either today or tomorrow.  More breaking news to come as it happens.

2:45 pm update: According to Monique, Amy is at 3 cm.  It's going to be a while.  There may not be an update on this until tomorrow at this rate.

:-D

Sounds like it was worth the wake up call to me! At least he didn;t call on the way there!

Well now, true enough on both counts and we definitely appreciated the notification.

We just would have appreciated it more anywhere from 10 minutes later (when the alarm had already rung) to 60 minutes later (when we were up and going).

In fact, since she lives in the house with us, we really wouldn't have minded her letting us know at 1:00 after she called Chris to come home from work.

So... lets add an addendum; "No good news can come at 4:50 in the morning, unless someone in the immediate family is expecting a child at any moment."

good luck!

I would happily have assumed that addendum if I knew that immediate family member was expecting at any moment. However, she was 3 weeks early on her first child, most unusual *AND* she lives in the same house with us. I wasn't expecting to find out she was at the hospital via telephone.

So your exception clause needs exceptions. Sounds like a software project. ;-)

Awwwwwww... I'm so sorry!!!!! Actually, I'd tell you how the story *really* went down (I argued with Chris about whether or not he should call you when he did; but you just can't argue reason with a guy who's head over heels with excitement and wants to share it with the whole world!)in regards to wanting to inform you appropriately.... He actually suggested waking you guys up before he knew he was able to come home... but I was *convinced* that they were going to just send me home and tell me I'd just "had an accident" and it wasn't really my water breaking.

... So I didn't want you guys to be upset with me for waking you up for *nothing*... I'm sorry!!!
