Health updates
Aug. 4th, 2010 07:18 amI had the follow-up visit with the podiatrist after the two MRIs. Yeah, two MRIs because they saw something on the first one that they wanted to see in more detail so I got called back. What they saw was a chronic tear of the posterior tibialis tendon. Essentially that means there's an interior tear on a tendon and it's been there for a while. This is probably about the best news I could hope for. It means that surgery is not necessary to repair it and it can probably be treated with custom orthotics. The only down side is the $500 price tag on the orthotics. I have to call my insurance company to see if I can get them to recognize some medical exception to allow at least partial coverage on this. I'll do it regardless, but you know, $500.
On the very bright side, 18 pounds down and feeling a lot better for it. I've been plateaued at this same 18 pounds for just over a week, but I'm not unhappy with it and I just finished a heavy cheat weekend and didn't gain, so it's all good.
