Vacation obviously has me seeing too much available time. But Monique is on a conference call from work right now, so I have a bit of time.
1. How can I tell if you are angry?
There will probably be a lot more expletives in my speech or my writing. If you're talking to me, I'll probably have either a very cold, hard tone or get much louder depending on whether I'm mad or really mad.
2. How should I behave around you while you are angry?
If you caused it, get the Hell away from me while I'm still in the soft, icy phase. If you didn't cause it, talk to me, listen, feel free to try reasoning with me.
3. How do you want me to behave when you are hurting emotionally? (How is best to comfort you?)
If you're long distance, IM or call. That is absolutely awesome because it helps take my mind off the problem. If you can be with me, a hug and a chat is great. Distractions in general are best, bringing me back to things I enjoy.
4. Are there things we should ~not~ discuss?
Absolutely nothing.
5. How should I treat you if you are physically ill?
You don't want to be around me if I'm physically ill. Let me sleep it off if it's that bad.
6. What makes you happy? (that may be in my power to grant, as a friend?)
Stay in touch often. If you can do it, make it face-to-face. One of the best things for me is to go out to dinner with my friends after an event and we almost never do it.
7. How would you like for us to recognize your birthday?
A simple birthday greeting is fine, but if you want to throw a party or just make fun of me for being older than me, that's ok too. I'm really easy to please.
8. Are there any standing categories of presents that would be inappropriate or unwelcome?
Nothing I can think of.
9. Are there times of the year that are difficult for you? (please explain if you are comfortable.)
I don't dwell on bad things for long, so not really in the way I think this question means. I hate Winter, but I wouldn't say it's difficult, just annoying. Besides which I'm a fairly upbeat, optimistic sort. I tend to overcome difficulties. I tend to get a little nostalgic around Labor Day because that's the anniversary of the permanent death of my first LARP character, but it's not really diffucult.
10. Are there important anniversaries that we should recognize in your life?
My wedding anniversary is incredibly important to me, but if no one recognizes it but me and Monique, that's ok.
11. Who are the most important people in your life to whom we should defer when making plans on your behalf?
Monique and Randy, in that order. They understand me and what's important to me pretty fully.
12. What do you share with others?
If you're reading my LJ, you already know the sorts of things I share freely without prompting.
13. What do you NOT share with others?
There is nothing I wouldn't share if asked, as long as it doesn't impact others. I won't share others' secrets; it's not my place, but I'll happily share anything about me.
14. How does someone become your friend?
Talk to me, listen to me, show you're interested. I'm very easy to befriend.
15. How does someone lose you as a friend?
If I find out you've bad mouthed me or taken actions against me behind my back, it's all over, probably forever. I may forgive, but I don't forget. If you were my friend and you could do it once, then you could do it again. You don't get a second shot.
16. What scares you?
Phobia style, spiders. I have an irrational fear of the little suckers. I have a mild fear of heights, but hanging lights from a 40' ladder back in college did wonders for facing that one.
The thought of losing Monique scares the hell out of me and brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it. She doesn't do as much as she should to take care of her health and I dread the day it takes its toll.
17. About what are you most sensitive?
I'm sensitive to oak, elm, maple, ragwood and bluegrass pollen in the fall. ;-) But seriously, in that emotional sort of way, I'm sensitive to criticism of my music. I"m always hesitant to put it out there because I worry about what people will think of it. Conversely, maybe because of that, when it gets praised, there's not much I can think of that feels better.

Date: 2008-05-02 01:27 pm (UTC)I'm not scared of the ocean, but I don't like to go in it. With me, the ocean is all about the senses. I like to hear it, see it and smell it, but if I'm close enough to feel it or taste it, I'm too close.
