My second grandchild, Elijah Alexander, arrived this morning at about 1:15.  These early morning calls have got to stop.  Anyway, he was 6 pounds even.  Chris, Amy and Elijah are all fine.  Monique went down right away.  I'm going to wait until tonight.

We have a new customer web site that went live overnight.  I can't afford not to be here at work today, so no early morning visits for me.  That, and I need my beauty sleep (obviously).  ;-)

Congratulations Chris and Amy!

Thank you, though some people might actually consider condolences to me. There's going to be a crying baby in the house, Monique wanting us to babysit, etc.

More LARPing is really starting to sound good. ;-)

Congratulations! Woo hoo!

You're old. ;) (I only say that because I think of you as being muuuuuuuuuuuuch closer to my generation than, say, my parents', and I'm sure time travel must be involved for you to actually be a grandfather already at all, let alone twice over.)

Thank you.

I'm actually a generational 'tweener. I'm 48. Too young to be a grandparent and too old to still be running around in the woods playing make believe. ;-)

Should I stop playing with you young whipper snappers?

Date: 2008-06-04 07:29 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] ryxander.livejournal.com
Yeah, whatever. I am unimpressed by your threat to stop playing. You know as well as I do that that's half of what keeps you so young! :)

Seriously, I think of you as about 38. It's all lies. Weird fluxes in the timestream. And I wouldn't say that for just anybody.

Pass along (and accept) my congratulations as well!

So, how did you and Monique manage to raise kids when you were both around 5 years old, anyway? :) That is the only way I can see you as grandparents.

*sigh* I only *wish* I were too young to be a grandparent. However, Monique was classified as a teenage pregnancy because she was about 6 weeks shy of turning 20 when she was diagnosed with her first pregnancy. That really pissed her off. She'd been married for over 5 months and was about to turn 20. She didn't want to be classified as a teenage statistic.

On the other hand, I was an ancient 22 at the time. ;-)

Thanks! But I'm from a French Canadian background. The correct phrase is, "Congratulations, Pepere". Doesn't matter how you say it; it still sounds OLD. ;-)

Hey good news there and while there is a baby in the house, that will make Memere Monique oh so happy to coo over a readily accesible grandchild. Best of luck to you both! Guess it is a good thing that neither of you are normally late sleepers .

So when do you next escape to LARP?

Fortunately, they are in the basement and we are on the top floor. Our house is well insulated, so downstairs baby noise won't affect us, just the lucky mom and dad.

Thanks to all who posted congrats! We just got home and I have work tonight so won't post anything really long just yet. Maybe tomorrow morning when I get home. I'll have to poke dad at some point to get some better pictures posted. Elijah is SO cute and adorable and I swear that isn't JUST fatherly pride talking. {grin} though there is tons of that too.

Interchange "fatherly" with "motherly" (wow, that's still surreal even 3 days later!) and this comment extends my thoughts as well.
Thanks to all who acknowledged and congratulated us on the arrival of Elijah... he's one lucky little boy with all of the care, love and support he's received from family and friends.
